Anonymous NBA Player Poll: Charlotte Rank Dead Last in Key Category

The Athletic released their annual anonymous NBA player poll which asks players questions on various categories from MVP, Best Defender in the league and who are the most overrated/underrated players in the NBA.

The Charlotte Hornets featured very little on the list, apart from one key question:

"What arena has the worst fans?"

Charlotte ranked 1st by a relatively large margin with 15.2% of the votes, compared to 2nd (Detroit 11.1%) and 3rd (Washington 10.1%). The Athletic admit in their own article the word "Worst" is subjective, but overall it's not a title belt any team wants to be holding. It's clear the Hornets have some way to go to increase the faith of NBA players that Charlotte is a good basketball city to play in.

Charlotte finished the year 23rd in attendance and achieved a record 13 sellouts from 41 home games in a down year for the franchise. However, as many Spectrum regulars will be aware a large percentage of attendees were often fans for other teams, with Boston and LA fans regularly outnumbering local Hornets fans.

Steve Clifford also appeared in the rankings twice, he ranked 9th (3.9%) in "Which coach would you most want to play for" and then 6th (3.6%) for "Which coach would you least want to play for". Overall, this was a mixed bag for Steve Clifford, he's known as an old school "Hard but fair" coach, similar to his good friend Tom Thibodeau who ranked 1st with a whopping 43.6% of the vote for "Least want to play for".
