Bridges' Legal Team Files Motion Ahead of Latest Trial

An update on Miles Bridges.

Since the most recent allegations of Miles Bridges breaching his protection order there have been very few updates on how this could impact his availability. Bridges is still practicing with the team and accessing the facility as normal. As it stands, he is set to return once his 10-game suspension has been completed.

The Athletic has reported that Miles Bridges has a court date set for November 13th at 9am EST. Interestingly, a check of Mecklenburg County Courthouse website confirms that Bridges legal representatives have filed for a motion to produce exculpatory evidence ahead of the hearing. This motion suggests Bridges believes there is evidence which could exonerate him of guilt. A post on Hornets Reddit was the first to report this information.

Once the news broke of the latest allegations, Bridges has not released a statement. However, he did briefly changed his profile picture on “X” to an image of Johnny Depp. This was likely a nod to Depp winning a lawsuit against his former partner Amber Heard who accused him of abusing her over the course of their relationship.

Once the outcome of Bridges most recent trial is decided, the NBA will then likely open their own investigation. As always, the NBA is unable to start their investigation until the criminal investigation is complete. Unfortunately, for those hoping for closure on the Bridges situation this saga could continue to drag on into the season. Let’s be clear, nobody wants that to happen. Not the NBA, the Hornets, or Bridges. This situation has already reflected poorly on everybody, but the NBA must treat this situation with the respect and due diligence it deserves.
