BREAKING: Nets Trade Kyrie Irving

Kyrie is out of Brooklyn.

The first big domino has fallen as the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to trade all-star guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

In return, the Nets are receiving Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, a 2029 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2029 second-round pick.

In four seasons with the Nets, the former Duke star has averaged 27.1 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 48% from the field and 38% from three-point range.

What does this mean for the Hornets? Well, it's a good thing this deal got done well ahead of the deadline. If this went up until February 9th, teams interested in backcourt help would be placing much of their focus on Irving. Now, those same teams will start to look for the next best options, one of which could be Terry Rozier.
