Why Isn't Kai Jones in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest?

We're confused and we need answers.

This week, the NBA announced the participants for the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The event will cap off All-Star Saturday night, Feb 18th at 8 p.m. live from Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The field will consist of Kenyon Martin Jr., Mac McClung, Trey Murphy III and Jericho Sims. The judges for the event this year are Jamal Crawford, Lisa Leslie, Karl Malone, Harold Miner (Baby Jordan!! Remember him??) and Dominique Wilkins (Dunking God).

Quick Question....where the hell is Hornets forward Kai Jones?

The 6'11" 23-year-old has been making highlight reels for his dunks for the past two seasons now. Granted, Jones has been out of action recently with an ankle injury. But that didn't stop Jones from taking the case to the people for his inclusion in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Jones has electrified crowds with his dunks ever since he stepped on campus at the University of Texas a few years ago. Now in his second pro season, it would have been nice to see the Hornets represented on All-Star Saturday with Jones in the dunk contest. Because let's face it, the event has lacked...star power the past few years. Last year there were more misses than makes.

Jones would end that nonsense. Don't take our word for it, let the tape speak for itself.
