In this story:

First of all, we at All Hornets wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We truly thank you for your support throughout another year of Hornets coverage! We look forward to continuing to grow our community here in 2024 and beyond.

With it being Christmas, I figured it would be a great idea to discuss what should be on the Charlotte Hornets' Christmas wish list.

A healthy LaMelo Ball

The No. 1 gift on the list is a no-brainer. See Santa, the Hornets, they're just not very competitive without their franchise point guard who is one of the best players in the league at his position. His injuries over the last few seasons have kept Hornets' fans from being able to enjoy his creative play-making ability and poetry on the floor. A healthy LaMelo Ball will give the Hornets an opportunity to be competitive and perhaps play winning basketball.

A Gordon Hayward trade

Hayward is a great locker room guy and is someone that offers stability and a calming presence on the floor. That said, it's the final year of his contract and he's obviously not going to be a part of the team's long-term plans. I understand he may not net a first-round pick but it's worth getting something out of his departure rather than letting him walk at the end of the year in free agency.

Another trade...involving Miles Bridges

Bridges has proven that the year off hasn't really impacted his production from a night to night basis. He's putting up similar numbers to what he did two years ago. The thing is, I'm not sure he's going to improve upon that production. I think he's peaked. He's on a one-year deal and with the possibility of a new front office structure and head coach, it makes sense to move off of him at the deadline.

More aggressive approach from the front office

Mitch Kupchak has been very patient in building this roster and to some extent, I understand it. But this team is never going to take that next leap if they don't pursue an All-Star caliber player to go alongside LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams - the core of the franchise. I don't anticipate Kupchak being in Charlotte for much longer, so naturally the front office approach should change.
