Armed with three first-round picks, the Utah Jazz scouting team will have its hands full this next month. Jazz CEO Danny Ainge was asked about how much stock he’ll be putting in the upcoming Combine in his postseason press conference.
“We’ll have 10 of us or more there," Ainge said. “We’ll spend a lot more time watching them together collectively with groups and evaluating them. We’ll have a lot of time in the combine and draft workouts to get to know them up close and personal.”
The Jazz will have a clearer picture of what players to scout when they find out where the lottery pick in its possession will land. With a 50.7% chance of picking at No. 9 overall, Jazz fans should be keeping a close eye on Gradey Dick, Anthony Black, Cameron Wallace, Taylor Hendricks, and G.G. Jackson, to name a few.
With the No. 16 pick there’s Kris Murray, Jordan Hawkins, Jeff Howard, and Keyonte George that could be there for the taking. Then there’s always a possibility that Lady Luck could be smiling on the Jazz at the NBA lottery.
Utah has a 20.2% shot of being awarded a top-four selection. Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, Amen Thompson, or Brandon Miller could put the Jazz on the path of relevance sooner than expected.
