Jazz Centered in Controversy After Team Store Releases Jordan T-Shirt

It’s safe to say Utah Jazz fans weren’t too appreciative of the team’s new shirt design.

It seems the Utah Jazz always seem to make headlines when it comes to fashion. Whether it's concerning the release of a new uniform design, good or bad, or discussions around their ever-changing color schemes, it creates some entertaining talking points for Salt Lake City’s own.

However, the newest topic surfacing is one that is both unexpected and borderline unfathomable.

As the 2023-24 NBA season creeps up, franchises are beginning to release new merchandise and clothing for the exciting year ahead, allowing fans to rock some fresh new designs to represent their team. And while most of the latest lines are well-received, Utah cooked up a royal mistake.

Out of all of the designs to think of, the Jazz dropped a t-shirt with a massive Michael Jordan “Jumpman” logo jumping over the team's wordmark.

If there was any team that should not be dawning the Jumpman logo on their gear, it is the Jazz.

Once Michael Jordan prevents your franchise from winning not one, but two NBA Finals, no branding or association from the catalyst that caused these gut-wrenching losses should be allowed. It’s already bad enough when the team’s black Statement Edition uniform has the Jumpman logo sticking in the top left corner of the jersey.

Jazz fans were not too happy about the tee, making sure their voices were heard and pointing out the obvious flaws with the premise of the design. Promptly, the team store looked in the mirror and saw the problem, effectively removing the shirt from the store, according to Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Jazz have been no stranger to drawing fashion criticism across the past few seasons, many fans are still unhappy with the decision to switch to a neon yellow and black color scheme for team uniforms and logos (even if it is not that bad). However, this shirt is another level of madness.

Thankfully, with the shirt taken off the shelves and put behind us, Jazz fans hopefully will not be witness to any lunatic walking down the streets of Salt Lake City with this strapped across their chests.
