Jazz Update Lauri Markkanen's Status for Spurs Matchup

The Utah Jazz take on the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

The Utah Jazz travel to the lone star state to face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Both teams have a plethora of key contributors that will be absent for the contest.

The Jazz will be missing Jordan Clarkson (hand), Collin Sexton (hamstring), Rudy Gay (back), and Lauri Markkanen (wrist).

The Spurs will be without Keldon Johnson (foot), Devin Vassell (knee), Khem Birch (knee), and Jeremy Sochan (knee).

Heading into Wednesday night the Jazz are in a position to sneak into the play-in tournament while also improving their lottery odds at the same time.

The Washington Wizards upset the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, which opened the door for Utah to potentially get to the No. 8 slot in terms of lottery odds. Currently, Utah is 1.5 games ahead of the Wizards in the standings.

But the Oklahoma City Thunder also dropped a game unexpectedly to the Charlotte Hornets. This puts Utah only 1.5 games removed from the play-in tournament. However, the Thunder owns the tiebreaker vs. Utah if it came down to that.

Other games Jazz fans should be keeping an eye on tonight are the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers.

There are plenty of moving parts as we head down the stretch, with Jazz fans still sitting on both sides of the fence in regard to which teams to root for.

Tip-off Wednesday night is at 6:00 pm MDT.
