After spending his last two seasons stationed with the Utah Jazz, Rudy Gay has signed a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors for the 2023-24 NBA season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gay is coming off his latest campaign with the Jazz, averaging 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists across 56 games. While we won’t be seeing his consistent double-digit scoring averages like he was posting earlier in his NBA career, he still provides a valuable veteran presence on a team with high aspirations for success this year.

While he is one of the most seasoned veterans in the league, he’s yet to see the peak of a championship throughout his 18-year career. Teaming up with G Steph Curry, G Klay Thompson, and F Draymond Green could be a pretty safe bid to add that achievement to his resume.

We saw Gay in headlines earlier this summer as a part of the deal to send John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks to Utah, paired alongside a second-round pick in the process. While he was eventually let go as the offseason progressed, he gets another shot to end up on a 15-man.

The 37-year-old is expected to compete for an official spot on the roster during training camp. Looking at just under a week to go until camps get underway, the verdict for how this vet’s future in The Bay ends looks to be discovered soon.
