After the Utah Jazz acquired forward Otto Porter during this February's trade deadline, the 11-year NBA vet may already be on his way out of Salt Lake City, despite not managing to hit the floor once since the deal occurred.

According to a report from Tony Jones of The Athletic, Porter is expected to take some time away from the team ahead of their next contest to evaluate a potential buyout for the second half of the NBA season:

Utah Jazz forward Otto Porter Jr. has returned home to evaluate his options for the remainder of the season and will not be with the team Thursday night when the Jazz open the second half of their schedule against the Charlotte Hornets, league sources tell The Athletic...His options include accepting a contract buyout from the Jazz, which would allow him to sign with another team. Porter would have to sign with another team by March 1 to be eligible to play in the postseason.

Porter spent the first half of this season with the Toronto Raptors before ultimately being dealt at the deadline for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji. Now, after spending the past two weeks with the team, it looks as if both parties could be turning in different directions.

During the 15 games he's appeared in this season, Porter has averaged 2.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.5 assists on 42.4/34.8/100 splits. He was the 3rd overall pick during the 2013 NBA Draft, also becoming an NBA champion in 2022 with the Golden State Warriors.

Signs point to Porter likely leaving Utah via buyout for the chance to compete for another ring across the remainder of this season. The Athletic report details that he's now healthy after dealing with some injury concerns, and could now be added as a rotational piece to a team's hopeful title run.
