It’s all good vibes between the Sacramento Kings and All-NBA center Domantas Sabonis. After this pairing has now spent close to two years together, it’s become clear this partnership is one the big man wants to keep going for a long time, as showcased in a recent interview.

Sabonis spoke with NBC Sports’ Morgan Ragan on his time with Sacramento, voicing the gratitude he has for the city since arriving, along with the sentiment of wanting to stay with the Kings for the rest of his career:

“The fans give us so much, the city has given me so much. I’ve said that they’ve welcomed me with open arms. I walk around the city – or wherever – and everyone is so nice, so nice to us. My wife goes around without me, [and] they (fans) know who she is. They (fans) help her. It’s just right. They give us so much, I just want to give back in any way that I can, you know. Especially this is somewhere I hope to stay for the rest of my career. I think it’s just the right thing to do.”

Since being traded to Sacramento two seasons ago, Sabonis has had no issues making his mark with the team. He achieved his third All-Star appearance in 2023, with the potential for a fourth selection on the horizon this season.

Through the first half of his 2023-24 campaign, Sabonis has averaged 20.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists on 61.0% shooting from the field, along with a 40.4% clip from deep. 2x MVP Nikola Jokic is the only other player who has managed to average a statine of 20-10-7 across this season.

Thankfully for the Kings, Sabonis is locked into a long-term deal that keeps him in town until the 2027-28 season, so fans should have no worries about losing out on their All-NBA big at any point soon. He, along with his counterpart De’Aaron Fox, can help push this team to their ultimate championship goals for years to come.
