The Sacramento Kings are back in action on the road, set to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. It will be the first time these teams have been up against each other this season after Philadelphia swept the series last year, 2-0.

However, the 76ers have been struggling as of late, losing four of their last five games and currently on a three-game skid. It gives Sacramento the perfect opportunity to capitalize on a team falling off the rails and continue to push forward in the Western Conference playoff race.

Things won’t be getting any easier for Philadelphia, either. According to their injury report ahead of the game, last year’s MVP winner, Joel Embiid, will be out once again with a knee injury.

Both teams released their designations ahead of the matchup:

Sacramento Kings:

Kevin Huerter- OUT (ankle)

Philadelphia 76ers:

Joel Embiid- OUT (knee)

Robert Covington- OUT (knee)

Kenneth Lofton- OUT (shoulder)

Embiid has been out of the 76ers’ lineup since their game against the Utah Jazz on January 6th, along with this being his sixth absence in eight games. Being out for so long has begun to put his eligibility status for winning another MVP in question, considering he would need to play a minimum of 65 games to qualify. This is his 9th miss of the year, leaving only eight left until the end of the regular season to meet the newly implemented requirements.

Philadelphia will also be without some additional size in their depth as Robert Covington and Kenneth Lofton are out with injuries of their own.

For the Kings, Kevin Huerter will be out for this one after he suffered an ankle injury in Sacramento’s last time on the floor vs. the Charlotte Hornets. With Huerter’s absence, we could expect other guards down the rotation, like Keon Ellis, having a more substantial role for the night.

The Kings and 76ers will tip off in Wells Fargo Center at 4:30 PM PT with the opportunity for Sacramento to secure their 24th win of the year.
