Report: Kings' Huerter, Barnes, Mitchell Made Available for Trade

The Kings' disappointing trio has been put on the trade block.

The Sacramento Kings have been at the forefront of many NBA trade rumors, and the blockbuster deal that sent Toronto Raptors' OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks has warmed up the discussions. Sacramento fans quickly jump on possible trades, as the Kings need significant upgrades to compete for a championship.

The Kings have limited assets, but Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports says Sacramento has made Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, and Davion Mitchell available for trade.

The Kings have been calling opposing front offices to gauge the value of packaging Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Not exactly the youthful tandem that came back from New York, and Sacramento won’t consider moving sophomore sharpshooter Keegan Murray, sources said. But Sacramento has third-year guard Davion Mitchell available for trade, and the Kings hold future picks beyond this year’s first rounder owed to Atlanta [Hawks] to help facilitate any deal before next month’s deadline. Huerter, it should be noted, was recently moved to Mike Brown’s bench in exchange for Chris Duarte.

While it is no surprise the Kings trio has been made available for trade after they have all seen decreased roles this season, it might be too little too late for Sacramento. Mitchell, Huerter, and Barnes have been disappointing this season, and other team's desire for them might have faded away since the off-season.

If the Kings can get a star like Raptors' Pascal Siakam via trade, they should do whatever it takes to get him, starting with these three players. Just because the trio has had down years so far does not mean they cannot contribute at a high level with a change of scenery, and many teams will account for that when in trade talks with Sacramento.

Huerter, for example, shot 40% from deep while being the third leading scorer on the third seed in the Western Conference last season. Huerter's numbers are down significantly this season, but he has proven he can contribute to a winning team.

While Sacramento should not trade their guys away for crumbs, if they get the opportunity to upgrade the starting lineup, it should be a no-brainer to move any of Huerter, Barnes, or Mitchell.
