CBS Sports Credits 3 Kings in Top 100 NBA Player Rankings

In this story:
Within NBA discussions, everybody can argue how one player is better than another. Realistically, ranking NBA players is one of the most challenging tasks possible. The league is packed with elite-level talent, but the uniqueness of players makes it nearly impossible.
Multiple writers at CBS Sports attempted the "NBA top 100 player rankings" challenge while giving props to three Sacramento Kings stars.
They started the Kings craze with G Kevin Huerter, finding himself ranked 87th. Huerter is coming off a career-best year in his first season in Sacramento after the Kings acquired him from the Atlanta Hawks in the 2022 NBA off-season. Huerter averaged 15.2 points per game with 48/40/72 shooting splits last season.
"Huerter was everything the Kings could have hoped for in his first season in Sacramento... His off-ball movement and dribble hand-off work with Domantas Sabonis helped generate the best offensive rating in NBA history last season. Huerter continued to display underrated playmaking ability as well, averaging nearly three assists per game, and is adept at hitting pull-up jumpers and floaters when he's run off the 3-point line."
The next Kings player to find his way on the top 100 list is All-Star C Domantas Sabonis, landing at 34. While Sabonis is not the best player in the league by any means, the All-NBA Third Team center deserves more respect.
After the Kings acquired Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster trade deadline deal in the 2021-22 season, it was clear the big man would make an immediate impact in Sacramento. In his first full year as a King, Sabonis averaged 19.1 points, 12.3 rebounds (led the NBA), and 7.3 assists per game while shooting 61.5% from the field.
"His ability to dissect defenses with dribble hand-offs, back-door bounce passes, elbow jumpers and brutish post-ups turned Sacramento into must-watch programming. The 6-foot-11 center also led the league in rebounding, while joining Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson and Nikola Jokic as the only players in league history to average at least 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists per game in a single season."
The highest-ranked Kings player is none other than All-Star G De'Aaron Fox, who is the 19th-best NBA player, according to CBS Sports.
After achieving All-NBA Third Team honors and his first NBA All-Star appearance in the 2023 season, Fox catapulted himself into top-five point guard discussions. The 25-year-old guard averaged 25.0 points, 6.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
"Fox has been trending upward for years now and established himself as one of the league's premier closers last season. He led all players in clutch points (194) en route to the Kings' first playoff berth since 2006. Fox's playmaking has dropped off since partnering with Domantas Sabonis, but he shot a career-high 51.2% from the field in 2022-23. Fox could continue to climb the ranks of the NBA's most dynamic lead guards with another successful campaign."
Fox has cemented himself as a top 20 NBA player and should continue to climb if the Kings have another successful 2023-24 season.
The young All-NBA duo of Fox and Sabonis is taking over the league, and now that the Kings franchise has a taste of success, they will be hungry for more.
