Pascal Siakam Trade Rumors: Knicks Form 'Best Frontcourt' with Julius Randle?

The New York Knicks have been linked in trade rumors to Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam.

The New York Knicks are waiting to strike on the trade market.

After forming the core of their team with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle -- through free agency, a trade could take the Knicks over the top.

In listing a trio of hypothetical blockbuster deals, NBA Fadeaway World suggests a trade that would send Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam to the Knicks for R.J. Barrett and Quentin Grimes.

"Siakam and Randle would form one of the best frontcourt duos in the NBA, with Jalen Brunson pulling the strings from the backcourt," Fadeaway World's Eddie Bitar writes. "Siakam and Randle can both push the floor, rebound, and defend while competing on offense as inside finishers and also decent outside shooters. Getting Siakam out of Toronto won’t be easy, because it would require a mix of players including 23-year-old RJ Barrett and 23-year-old Quentin Grimes."

Siakam, 29, averaged a career-high 24.2 points per game this past season, making his second All-Star appearance in seven NBA campaigns with the Raptors. He is a free agent at season's end, meaning he would likely sign a long-term deal with whichever team he gets traded to, assume he's dealt.

Would the Knicks be willing to roll the dice on Siakam? It's tough to tell.

The likely indicator is no, simply because the Knicks could have made this trade by now if they were seriously interested in Siakam. New York could also simply wait until Siakam becomes a free agent and make a compelling offer then.

Siakam's fit with Randle is questionable. It a of those situations that could go extremely well or very poorly with very little wiggle room in between. The next big trade the Knicks will make should be their "all-in" move that puts them in the contender conversation. Trading for Siakam, despite his talents, probably isn't the move that helps the Knicks move into the Eastern Conference's top categories.
