New York Knicks and Bojan Bogdanovic: The Ideal Trade With Detroit Pistons

In this story:
The New York Knicks are scanning the trade market for a way to make their team better, especially after an embarrassing week against the Eastern Conference's finest. While obtaining a high-profile superstar would obviously be the preferable route, several role players could emerge on the block
Fred Katz of The Athletic suggested one of the latter variety, hinting that the Knicks could take an interest in Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanović.
"The Detroit Pistons, owners of the NBA’s worst record and an 18-game losing streak, have expressed that it would take a large offer to acquire 20-point scorer Bojan Bogdanović, league sources said," Katz wrote. "The situation with Bogdanović is akin to the one with Jerami Grant from a couple of seasons ago, when Grant had two years remaining on his contract and Detroit held onto him despite its losing record. The Pistons eventually flipped Grant for a late first-round pick once the rangy forward was in the final year of his deal."
In terms of what the Knicks could give in such a deal, perhaps this is finally the deal that unloads the exiled Evan Fournier. New York could also sell off some of its draft pick stash to sweeten the deal considering Fournier has appeared in just a single game this season on an $18.9 million salary.
'Second-Best' Knicks Rip Kenny Smith's Rant
Bogdanović, 34, has averaged 17.7 points in three games this season, having missed most of the Pistons' early struggles with a calf strain. He can provide spacing for Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle and is a strong three-point shooter, hitting just under 40 percent in his career to date.
In such a hypothetical, both sides potentially prevail: the Knicks add another experienced three-point shooter while the Pistons get a veteran and another first-round pick for what appears to be a multi-faceted rebuild.
New York and Detroit do battle again on Feb. 26. In the meantime, the Knicks (12-9) face the Toronto Raptors at home on Monday night (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG).
