Knicks Sign NYC Native Moses Brown to Two-Way Deal

In this story:
Per Shams Charania, the New York Knicks have signed center Moses Brown to a two-way deal. Brown's most recent NBA experience came with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he averaged 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 35 appearances (8.5 minutes a game).
The 23-year-old is back in his native New York City where he burst onto the basketball scene as a high school star at Archbishop Molloy in Queens. As a senior, Brown earned All-American honors, joining NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson as Lions to earn such an honor. Brown then moved on to UCLA, where he earned Pac-12 All-Freshman team honors in his single year as a Burin.

Though he went undrafted in the 2019 selections, Brown has NBA experience with Portland, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Cleveland before his last stop in Southern California. He has made 126 appearances over four seasons including 39 starts, all but seven with the Thunder in 2020-21. That season also saw him enjoy a breakout year on the G League circuit, averaging 18.5 points and 13.8 rebounds with the Thunder's Oklahoma City Blue. For his efforts, Brown earned G League First Team and Defensive Team honors.
Since he signed with the Knicks (39-28) after the Mar. 1 deadline, Brown will not be eligible to appear on any potential postseason roster. The NBA club's interior room is also rather crowded as is, as Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein have been mainstays in head coach Tom Thibodeau's nine-man rotation while Jericho Sims has filtered in and out. Brown could perhaps help G League Westchester's rebounding game, as they're letting up 35.8 a game on the defensive end, the fouth-worst mark in the minors.
If Brown does catch on with the big club quickly, he won't have to wait long to face his most recent employers. The Knicks face the Clippers on Saturday afternoon, two days after a four-game Western Conference tour opens in Sacramento (10 p.m. ET, TNT). Westchester (9-16) is likewise heading west, facing off against the Kings' affiliate in Stockton that same night and time (10 p.m. ET, ESPN+).
