The New York Knicks are winners of nine straight games. Where does that put them in this week's power rankings?

In this story:

The New York Knicks hold the league's longest winning streak at nine games, and that's catapulted them safely into the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Those winning ways have also allowed the Knicks to jump up two spots in this week's power rankings from Sports Illustrated. New York is now at the No. 6 spot with only the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of them.

"New York won’t stop winning, blowing out Brooklyn at Madison Square Garden last Wednesday and edging Miami and Boston on the road over the weekend to stretch its streak to nine," SI writes. "Jalen Brunson racked up 39 points on the Nets and Julius Randle, not to be outdone, scored 43 points and drained eight threes, including a step-back game-winner to beat the Heat. Brunson (foot) was held out against the Celtics and Immanuel Quickley, who started in his place, scored a career-high 38 across 55 minutes in a double-overtime victory."

While that's not as high as the top spot the powers that be at CBS have afforded them, the Knicks (39-27) are getting some long-due respect from the national basketball scene. In addition to recognition from the power ranking curators, Brunson was named the Eastern Conference's Player of the Month for February while Randle was labeled the Player of the Week for March's opening.

The Knicks have a great chance to turn the winning streak to double digits tonight against the Charlotte Hornets (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG) before heading out west to face the Sacramento Kings on Thursday before a Los Angeles double feature over the weekend.
