The Los Angeles Lakers are in the race for a playoff spot. Besides digging themselves into a huge hole to start the season, they've put themselves in an excellent position to make the postseason.

Although they've lost superstar LeBron James for an extended period of time, the players they've acquired via the trade deadline and their other superstar Anthony Davis have been holding the fort down. Davis has been a monster for LA and is playing like the superstar Laker fans and the basketball world know he is.

However, some talk has surfaced that the Lakers brass should trade Davis at the end of the season. FS1 analyst Colin Cowherd has led that charge and has repeatedly mentioned that LA should trade the All-Star big man in the summer.

Cowherd sparked those talks once again when he tweeted about it after AD's dominant performance Tuesday night in their win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

AD's Hall of Fame talent has never been a question mark, but his ability to stay on the court for most of the season has been. When healthy, the eight-time All-Star is a top-five player, at worst, and is the ultimate difference maker on both sides of the court.

The cause for concern is real. In his four seasons as a Laker, he's only played in 180 games, as of March 12, in 294 possible games. That's 61% of the games, which is way too low for someone getting big-time money.

Even though the health part is a huge red flag, I'll take my chances with Davis and James in a Laker uniform. LA is a star-driven town, and the Lakers must squeeze every single ounce of talent that is left of Davis,

If LA provides its dynamic duo with real players around them, it can be an excellent team. Prime examples are the year they won the championship in 2020 and this season with the moves they've made in the trade deadline.

James and Davis are still a top duo in the league and have shown to be deadly when they do take the floor together. They both aren't getting any younger; however, they must remain the pillars of the team till they no longer can't.
