Lakers News: How Involved Were LeBron James And Anthony Davis In Trade Deadline Moves?

The two stars' approval is crucial for the Lakers as they look to build a championship-contending team.

Los Angeles Lakers team president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka has made it a priority to keep both LeBron James and Anthony Davis informed about all of the moves the Lakers made before the NBA trade deadline last week.

Lakers reporter Jovan Buha of The Athletic tweeted out the two LA stars were fairly involved in the moves:

Just before the trade deadline, Pelinka's front office made several moves to pick up valuable players in the hopes of improving their roster.

In a three-team deal with the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles picked up D'Angelo Russell from Minnesota, and Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley from Utah in exchange for Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, Russell Westbrook, future draft consideration. In a four-team trade with the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic, LA acquired reserve center Mo Bamba from Orlando, reserve shooting guard Davon Reed from center and two second-round picks from the Clips in exchange for outgoing center Thomas Bryant.

It is nice to know that Pelinka has made it a point to check in with both James and Davis to ensure that they are fully on board with all of the changes that are being made. After all, James and Davis are two of the biggest stars in the NBA and leaders of this current Lakers team.

James is a four-time MVP and a 19-time All-Star, while Davis is one of the most dominant big men in the league, with eight All-Star selections and four All-NBA selections to his name. Their approval is crucial for the Lakers as they look to build a championship-contending team.

Pelinka recognizes the importance of keeping the two stars involved in all decisions that are being made. By checking in with them ahead of the deadline, he can know that they are in agreement with the direction that the Lakers are heading in and are confident in the future of the franchise.

Although the Lakers have struggled for the majority of this season, their new acquisitions will push them to become a competitive team. Los Angeles continues to fight their way above .500, as they currently sit at the bottom of the Western Conference.
