Lakers News: 44-Point 76ers Loss Was Historically Terrible For LA

Monday night was a brutal one for your Los Angeles Lakers. Their 44-point loss at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers actually made history. Per Khobi Price of The Orange County Register, that margin is now tied for the fifth-worst loss in franchise history.

The issue with this loss being etched into the record books is that the teams above weren't considered top-tier teams at all.
The Lakers spent much of the mid 2010s rebuilding, explaining the first 3 losses, while the 4th and 5th losses were from teams that never had championship aspirations.
This Lakers squad, however, does, making this monumental loss that much more problematic.
In terms of where to go from here, with a nice bounce-back opportunity on the calendar against the Pistons, LA can move on via returning to the win column.
What was seen on Monday night, however, whether it be the poor point of attack defense, defensive communication, 3-point shooting, shot creation, etc., could easily rear its ugly head down the stretch.
Let's hope the Lakers can get things together soon as they begin to compete for the in-season tournament on Tuesday night.
