If you hadn't heard, the Los Angeles Lakers have had essentially the best offseason possible.

Coming off a surprising run to the Western Conference Finals -- keyed in large part by skilled role players Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura -- the franchise re-signed both over the offseason, in addition to bringing back point guard D'Angelo Russell and signing Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, and Cam Reddish all to team-friendly deals -- a rarity in today's money making bonanza.

The signing of Reaves is arguably the biggest win for Los Angeles this offseason, particularly at the price they inked him at.

Reaves and the Lakers agreed to a four-year, $53 million contract after the 25-year-old caught fire in the postseason.

The former two-way guard put up big numbers in his first playoff appearance with just under 17 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 44 percent from three, giving the Lakers a much-needed threat from the perimeter.

Despite that, no other organization signed the then-restricted free agent to an offer sheet, allowing the Lakers to sign Reaves for just over $13.2 million a year instead of as much as $24.6 million per season.

Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz named that as the Lakers' biggest win this offseason, in part writing this:

"As a restricted free agent, Reaves was never going to leave Los Angeles this summer. Another team could have made it a lot more painful for the Lakers to keep the young guard, however."

Swartz is certainly correct that Reaves never would have found himself on another roster, but fortunately for the Lakers, they didn't have to break the bank to bring him back on a long-term deal.

The Lakers are now set up to contend yet again next season, and sometimes, it is better to be lucky than good -- as Rob Pelinka and the rest of the Lakers front office can attest to.
