Lakers News: Insider Rallies Against LA's Risky Possible Starting Lineup Change

In this story:
The Los Angeles Lakers have a very interesting situation on their hands and that's why it is a bit confusing that they haven't signed another center this free agency period just yet. Anthony Davis spent the majority of his playing time at the five last season and when he wasn't there the likes of Thomas Bryant, Damian Jones, Wenyen Gabriel and even Tristan Thompson got some run. However, none of those guys are on the roster anymore and outside of Jaxson Hayes, LA hasn't welcomed anyone else in just yet.
Christian Wood makes the most sense from a skill-based standpoint and Bismack Biyombo makes the most sense from a character and defense-based standpoint. If both of them were to sign with different teams, LA does have Colin Castleton on a two-way deal and they could see how his five years of collegiate experience translates to the NBA.
However, after all of the moves GM Rob Pelinka has made over the past few months, I think he wants to make sure he closes all loose ends and gets AD another experienced big man to take some pressure off of him down low. As of now, LA is reportedly confident that Hayes can be in starting lineups with Davis and that means his dreams of moving back to the four slot could come true.
But Jovan Buha of The Athletic brought up some great points about why LA should think twice about that.
"Starting Davis next to Hayes and/or another center would have a trickle-down effect in sliding the Lakers’ many power forwards down a position more than is optimal. That would affect James the most, as it’d force him to spend more time defending opponents’ top scoring wings, a sizable challenge for a soon-to-be-39-year-old. Even if only a few teams have dominant, rangy wing scorers like
Kevin Durant
,
Jayson Tatum
,
Kawhi Leonard
,
Brandon Ingram
and others, there are enough of them, especially in the West, to put the Lakers in difficult positions on a near-nightly basis."

LA has done a great job of getting so many talented wings on their roster. Buha believes that Davis moving back to power forward will hurt the Lakers potential of being one of the deepest teams in the league!
