Lakers News: LA Signs Former NBA Summer League MVP

His story is still being written!

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to be one of the hottest commodities in the NBA this year and preseason has only given us a sneak peak as to what to expect once game one of the season kicks off against the Denver Nuggets.

With depth at every position, the hope is that finally Lebron James and Anthony Davis will not have to carry such heavy loads in the regular season and can instead trust their younger talent to take care of business leading up to the playoffs.

And even though it's a completely different style of basketball, fans should definitely be excited to watch LA's G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. 2023 first-round draft picks Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis will likely garner big roles on that squad off the jump and develop into prominent, future pieces for the purple and gold.

Joining them will likely be the 2021 summer league MVP in Louis King as it was announced that the Lakers agreed to a contract with him on Wednesday and even though details of the agreement are not out just yet, most signs point to it being an Exhibit-10 deal and him heading to South Bay.

King suited up for the Sacramento Kings back in 2021 for their summer league team and dropped 21 points and five steals in their championship game en route to a victory and MVP award.

Standing at 6'6, he possesses good size with the ability to score from different spots on the court and guard wings and big men on rotations. His NBA career has yet to pan out seeing that he has yet to play more than 10 games for an official NBA franchise in a single season during the four years he's been in the league.

However, Lakers fans should be excited thanks to his recent development in the G-League. King played 32 games for the Delaware Blue Coats in the 2022-2023 season and averaged 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal while shooting just under 40 percent from three.

King is still just 24-years-old... do not rule out the Lakers getting the best out of him in the G-League and maybe even on the main roster one day!
