Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving is making a case for LeBron James to join him in Texas next season, according to a report from The Athletic's Shams Charania.

James has before expressed his desire to reunite with his former teammate, but in Los Angeles, not Dallas. The Lakers were viewed as a potential landing spot after Irving requested a trade from Brooklyn.

"First Things First" pundit Nick Wright shared his thoughts on the recent news, comparing it to a children's slumber party.

"You can't spend the night at my house, can I spend the night at yours," Wright said on Irving's strategy to play with James again.

With the Lakers likely not battling any temptations to trade one of the greatest players of all time for any combination of Tim Hardaway Jr., Davis Bertans, Josh Green, Jaden Hardy or future first round draft picks, a more realistic way for the stars to rejoin forces would be if Irving signed with the Lakers as he enters unrestricted free agency.

Since departing from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, Kyrie Irving has had a road trip of a career. There was potential in Boston, with a talented and young roster, but inside sources revealed that the eight-time All-Star was responsible for a toxic locker room. His most recent breakup in Brooklyn once again proved that Irving can be a difficult teammate.

Nets center Nic Claxton spoke bluntly when asked about the team chemistry during Irving's time in Barclays Center.

"Well last year it was, it was kind of a toxic environment. We didn't know if everyone wanted to be here at the time."

The Lakers have expressed their disinterest in adding Irving to their roster, according to multiple anonymous team sources. With a projected maximum salary starting around $47 million, the Lakers would simply have to give up too much for a star that has yet to prove that he can play nicely with others.
