Lakers News: Where LA Stars Rank Among Expert's Top Postseason Players

In this story:
Your Los Angeles Lakers are not just in the postseason, they're in the darn playoffs!
Having (barely) won their 7-8 play-in matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, the Lakers have now secured a play-in berth, and are set to face off against the 51-31 Memphis Grizzlies in a 2-7 first round playoff series on Sunday.
So where do LA's two stars and future Hall of Famers, All-Star small forward LeBron James and possible All-NBA big man Anthony Davis, rank among Tyler Parker of The Ringer's top postseason players this year?
James comes in at No. 10 (reigning Golden State Warriors champ Stephen Curry is first).
"A man whose postseason accolades require drastic editing lest they just take over and we spend three hours here," Parker writes. "He was once inevitable. Went to the Finals eight years in a row. That sort of nonsense will never be duplicated again. He didn’t make it to the postseason his first year in Los Angeles, then won his fourth ring the next year. That was the Bubble. Since then, things have not been as automatic... After a wild OT victory over the Timberwolves in the 7-8 play-in... he has succeeded in being on the right side of the television for the 2023 postseason."
"Besides having battled monsters bigger and scarier than someone who dresses like they’re participating in some kind of warped Chris Kirkpatrick cosplay," Parker wrote while alluding to Grizzlies small forward Dillon Brooks, "James is used to a target on his back. He’s LeBron. He’ll be ready. Let’s watch him while we can."
Davis did not make the cut, despite arguably being the more impactful two-way player for Los Angeles when he has been available this season. James no longer defends anybody, but his offensive game remains impeccable.
Given that the Lakers are underdogs in this first round series, it makes sense for Parker to just list one LA player in his postseason player rankings, a top 17. He just might have picked the wrong one.
