Your Los Angeles Lakers were clearly struggling last night to contain any Houston Rockets players during their parade to the layup lineup in an eventual 114-110 defeat.

The team was missing two of its three centers, Anthony Davis and Mo Bamba, leaving Wenyen Gabriel as their prime option at the five. The 6'9" Gabriel, a power forward before Darvin Ham got to him, is good, but raw and skinny, and lacks the girth to body goes in the post.

On Twitter, fans noticed the issue immediately: with Bamba out for possibly the rest of the regular season due to a high left ankle sprain, LA should probably add a legitimate center behind Davis, especially for the games Davis does not play, which are legion.

Another fan noted that the stakes could not be higher for LA to use the 15th spot on its standard 15-man roster to add a Bamba replacement:

One fan noted that the team worked out veteran free agent centers DeMarcus Cousins, still unsigned, and Meyers Leonard, now with the Milwaukee Bucks for the duration of the season, earlier in the season. To be fair, that happened before Bamba was traded to LA as the team's AD backup. Now, however, it may be worth exploring that option again.

Bamba incurred the high left ankle sprain in a game against the Golden State Warriors.

Another fan responded to a Darvin Ham interview by noting that the Lakers' front office may be opting for frugality over personnel in leaving that roster spot open:

This fan is worried that the Lakers will drop a second straight game tomorrow, against a mediocre Dallas team without much defense:

We shall see, but the imminent return of Davis may save LA in the short-term, at least.

As the season winds down (there are 12 games left for your 34-36 Lakers), more big man insurance behind Davis could certainly help the Lakers' postseason chances.
