Lakers News: South Bay Players React To Surprise LeBron James Encounter

For as long as anyone can remember, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been at the center of the spotlight. He entered the NBA nicknamed “The Chosen One”, and since, he has had all of this pressure and weight on his shoulders.

Most players wouldn’t be able to handle that kind of expectation throughout their entire careers, but James has taken it all in stride. He has taken his criticisms and down moments with grace, letting his on-court play do the talking for him.

With everything that he has had to deal with, one could make the argument that he has far exceeded the expectations that were put on him. And now, as he enters his 21st season in the NBA, he is still performing at a level that we have never seen before.

There are plenty of players in the league who were born around when James was drafted in 2003, and even some who weren’t yet a thought. So, whenever these young players meet The King for the first time, it can be a little overwhelming.

Recently members of the South Bay Lakers, the LA G-League affiliate, got a chance to meet James, and the reactions were everything you’d think and more.

The pure shock in some of the players' faces when talking about it shows the kind of pull that James has established over his years in the league. You can see them below!

Some of these players may get the chance to take the court with James later this season with the Lakers. If they do, it will likely be a surreal moment for them, but having him at their disposal is something that most young players don’t get the chance to have.

Two-way Lakers center Colin Castleton ruminated on the encounter.

“I met LeBron for the first time today. It was pretty cool," Castleton said.

James still is the face of the NBA today, which speaks to his overall greatness. As he enters this new season, he only has one thing on his mind, and that is another title. And the Lakers should have a great shot to win it all this season if they can stay healthy.
