Orlando Magic Rookies 'Understand They're Capable' Says Jamahl Mosley

In this story:
Being a rookie in the NBA is most definitely not easy, and playing in the preseason is one way to adjust to professional level play before the regular season starts.
Orlando Magic rookies Anthony Black and Jett Howard each played in all four of the team's preseason games, and it seemed to be good experience for both of them with the regular season quickly approaching.
Black struggled on the offensive side of the ball, but his potential was evident in his play. He also showed his versatility on defense and was able to guard a multitude of different positions as a result of his tall and lengthy build.
As for Howard, he also had his share of struggles from the field up until the Magic's last preseason game against the Brazilian basketball club Flamengo. He finished the game with 21 points and made five three-pointers in the game. Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley talked more about the impact that preseason games can have on rookies in his postgame conference.
"They now understand and are aware that they are capable," Mosley said. "A lot of times when you walk in your rookie season, you look at the games and how they're being played, and then you try to figure out how you can make an impact, and I think with those extended minutes, they can see how they can make an impact on the game. Whether that be making a shot, setting a great screen, cutting at the right time, little ways to impact the game no matter when your number is called."
Howard and Black will get their first taste of the real deal when they and the rest of the Magic will open the regular season on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Amway Center.
