Mavs Injury Updates: Luka Doncic Status vs. Grizzlies, Kyrie Irving May Not Play, More

The Dallas Mavericks may be without both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies, who will be without Ja Morant.

The Dallas Mavericks will be shorthanded when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. There is even a possibility they could be without both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, while Ja Morant remains away from his team.

The focus is on Doncic's quad injury as he was unable to finish his performance against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. He will not be traveling to Memphis. However, after being sidelined for Wednesday's loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, Reggie Bullock, Maxi Kleber, and JaVale McGee were full participants in Friday's practice.

"Luka's out — left thigh, so he's day-to-day. We'll see how he feels," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said after Friday's practice. "He will not go on the trip."

There have been a few key takeaways from recent comments about Doncic's injury. He has dealt with it since shortly after the NBA All-Star Break, but an MRI from Thursday revealed no damage. His leg has felt weaker and it has impacted his ability to make an impact during games.

It remains to be seen if Irving will be able to join the team in Memphis. He was unable to participate during Friday's practice due to an excused absence related to personal reasons.

"Kai was out. Excused absence. Personal reasons," Kidd said. "Hopefully he will be able to join us in Memphis."

With a 34-33 record, the Mavs rank eighth in the Western Conference entering Friday's NBA action. There are only two games separating them from the 11th ranked Utah Jazz, while being just a half game back from the LA Clippers for the fifth spot. Every game counts and Dallas could be without both of its superstars when taking on Saturday.
