Dallas Mavs Injury Updates: Kyrie Irving to Play Against Milwaukee Bucks; Maxi Kleber Ruled Out

Mavs superstar Kyrie Irving received a positive injury update ahead of the team's matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks on Saturday.

MILWAUKEE — The Dallas Mavericks will conclude a four-game road trip with a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, ahead of the team's departure from Washington, D.C., to Wisconsin, there is a positive update about Kyrie Irving's availability after missing the team's 130-117 win over the Washington Wizards.

After the Mavs' practice at Georgetown, coach Jason Kidd told reporters that aside from Maxi Kleber, the rest of the team practiced and will be "good to go" against the Bucks, including Irving, who was sidelined for Thursday's game with a left foot sprain.

The Mavs have yet to submit a formal injury report before Saturday's game but had previously listed Irving as questionable to play before being ruled out. He was ultimately ruled out on the second night of a back-to-back, but it didn't prevent Dallas from achieving success against the Wizards.

“His left foot is bothering him. It's sore," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said before the game. "We’re not going to take any chances. So, he’s out.”

After facing the Bucks, the Mavs will have a quick turnaround before returning to action, as they will travel back to Dallas to face the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, completing the second night of a back-to-back.

Luka Doncic has not missed a game this season, while Irving has been sidelined for three and is managing his foot injury. Irving's status for Sunday's game against the Bucks could be something to monitor, given it's a back-to-back, but the Mavs have two days off before their next game, beginning a two-game road trip.

Irving has averaged 22.3 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in nine games this season. He is shooting 46.0 percent from the floor, 40.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.8 percent on free throws despite getting off to a slow start to the season.

Kleber remains sidelined as he continues to recover from a toe injury and is expected to require multiple weeks from the time of his injury before being re-evaluated. The Mavs have given minutes to Olivier-Maxence Prosper while Kleber has been sidelined.
