Mavs LISTEN: Biggest Reasons For Dallas’ Loss in New Orleans; Will Jason Kidd Fix Lineups?

There were many reasons for the Dallas Mavericks’ 113-106 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night. The Mavs Step Back Podcast takes a look at everything that went wrong as Dallas fell to 34-33 on the season.

NEW ORLEANS — The bad news for the Dallas Mavericks is that Luka Doncic had to leave Wednesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans that ended up being a 113-106 loss.

The good news, as we found out on Thursday, is that Doncic’s MRI on his strained thigh came back clean, and he shouldn’t miss too much time, if any, going forward.

On today’s episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we give a full recap on what we witnessed live from the sidelines at Smoothie King Center, including a handful of reasons for yet another disappointing Dallas loss.

Coach Jason Kidd only has so much to work with when it comes roster production outside of Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but there are still buttons he’s able to push in order to get better results if he wanted to.

Justin Holiday played 16 minutes against the Pelicans and was a team-worst (by far) -30 on the night. Frank Ntilikina played just nine minutes, but he managed to be a -16 in that limited span.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old rookie Jaden Hardy stepped up to the plate when he got an opportunity and helped Irving mount a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. He finished with 11 points in 17 minutes off the bench while shooting 4-5 from the field, including a thunderous dunk plus the foul over Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes.

You can listen to the entire recap podcast below, where we go into more detail on Kidd’s rotational issues, Doncic’s injury, the upcoming mini-series against the struggling Memphis Grizzlies and much, much more.
