Mavs Star Luka Doncic Scoring at Michael Jordan Pace; Titles, MVPs to Follow?

In this story:
Luka Doncic has accomplished so much in such a short period of time that sometimes it's easy to forget that he's only 24 years old and in just his sixth season in the NBA.
The Dallas Mavericks superstar is in the midst of a career-best season, averaging 34.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. He's coming off a weekend where he posted a 73-point game against the Atlanta Hawks and averaged a 50-point triple-double in the two-game stretch – something no other player in league history has accomplished.
Out of all the accomplishments and comparisons, though, Doncic being able to do things we haven't seen since Michael Jordan might be the most impressive. With his latest scoring outburst, Doncic (37) now has the most 40-point games before turning 25 years old since Jordan (52).
Obviously Jordan had the defensive accolades that Doncic might never end up with, but when it comes to scoring, Doncic is right there with the player who most people view as the greatest of all time. Now the question is, can Doncic take the next step and have all of his statistical accomplishments translate to winning multiple championships and MVPs?

That might depend on how the Mavs' front office go about filling in the roster holes around Doncic. As good as Jordan was, he didn't win his six NBA championships until he was surrounded by key players like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant and others. With the NBA trade deadline less than two weeks away, we'll see if Dallas can take the next step in upgrading it's frontcourt around Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
