If Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving can find a way to play? Maybe the Mavs can start a new negative streak for the talented Warriors.

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks' best shot at surviving the final stretch of the season in a push to the NBA playoffs is of course to have the injured Luka Doncic back after missing five straight games to team with Kyrie Irving.

But the Mavs aren't sure All-Star guard Luka is going to be read for a Wednesday visit from the Golden State Warriors ... and now, with All-Star guard Irving wearing a walking boot on his right foot after Monday's loss at the Memphis Grizzlies, his availability isn't for certain, either.

But, Kyrie said, he will "exhaust all my options possible to play'' in the upcoming key matchup.

Irving said the boot was "just precautionary" (there was concern about an ankle but he said it's simply an aggravation of his big toe injury) and that is the hopefully good news to come out of Memphis, where Dallas lost a late big lead and lost the game, 112-108. (Read our coverage from Memphis here.)

Dallas will be back at the AAC hoping to put this loss in the rear-view mirror with a new focus on the Warriors ... and a glance at the standings.

The Mavericks haven't had the benefit of Irving and Doncic playing in the same game since March 8, and maybe that can change even as the pair maybe play through some pain in order to participate against the Warriors.

Currently, the 36-36 Mavs are sitting in seventh place and they are just a half-game behind the Golden State Warriors (37-36).

The Warriors on Monday won at Houston to snap an 11-game road losing streak.

If Luka (left thigh injury) and Kyrie can find a way to play? Maybe they can start a new negative streak for the talented Warriors.

“I just need to take care of it,'' Kyrie said of his ailment. "I’m just going to manage it. ... I’m not going to sit up here and make excuses. On to the next game.”
