LeBron Wants Mavs Trade? Mark Cuban Jokes About Lakers & Luka Doncic

On an episode of The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff, Dallas Mavericks owner, whether he was joking or not, hinted that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James might want a trade to Big D.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a busy man who has had an extra-busy offseason when it comes to the NBA Draft, free agency and trades. However, the Mavs bossman took some time out of his busy schedule to join viral TikTok sensation Bobbi Althoff on The Really Good Podcast to discuss a wide range of random topics.

About 10 minutes into the interview, Cuban and Althoff talk about the possibility of her coming to a Mavs game in the near future. After saying she likes basketball players, Althoff asked Cuban to name some for her, and he mentioned LeBron James. Althoff then asked if James was on the Mavs, and Cuban (jokingly) responded with this:

"No, he's not (on the Mavericks)," Cuban said. "He wants to be."

Now, before some Mavs fans get too excited over that, Cuban did follow up that statement with this after being asked if he was trying to get James to come to Dallas: "No, we have this guy named Luka Doncic."

Earlier this summer, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Kyrie Irving, who re-signed with the Mavs on a three-year, $126 million contract this summer, attempted to recruit James to Dallas. Although we never found out how James actually feels about that, it's not hard to envision him wanting to play with two of his favorite players in Irving and Doncic before he retires ... even if it's not in L.A.

Cuban's comments on a podcast that is known for not taking things seriously ... shouldn't be taken too seriously. But it's something that caught our eyes, regardless, and unless James signs another contract extension soon, he'll be an unrestricted free agent next summer, free to go wherever he wants to go. And that part is no joke.
