WATCH: Reliving Kyrie Irving's Best Highlights with Mavs

In this story:
The Dallas Mavericks didn’t have the finish they wanted last season, as they missed the postseason for the first time since Luka Doncic’s rookie year in 2018-19. However, Dallas was able to acquire Doncic’s co-star in Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline, and this summer has been all about filling in adequate roster depth around those two.
Doncic and Irving showed incredible offensive potential together, as the Mavs had an offensive rating of 119.2 when they shared the floor together. Now, with a handful of better defensive players and shooters around them, Doncic and Irving will have their eyes set on getting the Mavs back to the Western Conference Finals level we witnessed in the 2021-22 season.
Despite the Mavs’ failure to make the postseason after making their big blockbuster trade, their shortcomings weren’t due to the play of Irving, who averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 20 games for Dallas. During that stretch, he was close to the rare 50/40/90 efficiency benchmark, as he shot 51.0 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from deep and 94.7 percent from the free-throw line.
From his very first game as a member of the Mavs — a road game against a fully-healthy Los Angeles Clippers team with Doncic out due to injury — it was obvious that Irving was going to be a great fit in Dallas. Irving finished that game with 24 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block as the Mavs outlasted the Clippers, 110-104.
Kyrie Irving had some special moments with the Mavs last season, but I’ll never forget how electrifying his debut was. Big W on the road against the Clippers. Both Kawhi & PG were playing. Luka was out with an injury.

As we are a little more than a month away from the start of training camp and two months away from the new season beginning, take a moment to relive Irving’s best highlights with the Mavs from last season. Doncic and Irving having a full offseason to get healthy, as well as a revamped roster, should have the league on notice for what’s to come this year.
