Their close shortcoming to reach the In-Season Tournament knockout stage this season is meant to be a blessing in disguise for the Brooklyn Nets.

Being one of the 22 teams that are out of the In-Season playoff picture, the Nets have obtained a three-day rest from the active hoop play. The short time off allowed players and personnel to be able to enjoy a much-needed personal break, unwind and take a temporary recovery from the grinding 2023-24 campaign so far.

A much needed break for the Nets

Even for head coach Jacque Vaughn, what the schedule has offered in the wake of the In-Season knockout stage commencement is truly rejuvenating as they are now ready and well-prepared to play up next on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Vaughn made sure to inform his team that they have to use the recent breaks wisely as they finally made a return to the court on Tuesday for team practice.

“Yeah, you take a [practice] day like today especially after giving guys a couple of days off to keep the legs back underneath them, any ailments, try to get over those and then to have a focus level of talking about end-of-the-game execution, which we can always touch and get better at, just familiarizing ourselves with some of our sets again, anticipate some things that the Hawks might do,” Vaughn said. “A really good day from our group.”

Short, but rejuvenating

Even Cam Johnson shared his coach's same sentiments as he capitalized the ample previous rest days to go for needed off-court stuff.

The temporary hiatus might have been gone quickly, but the 27-year-old wing appreciated his time of being inactive from basketball scenes.

“It went fast, that's for sure. But it's always good to reset your mind, reset your body. Just sometimes it’s also good to just get away, take a walk, read, sleep,” Johnson said.

“Weather was okay yesterday [in Brooklyn], better than has been the past couple of days. I was able to get out and get a nice walk.”
