With reports circulating about the possibility of Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro making his return from injury during the NBA Finals, Heat coach Eric Spoelstra was asked for an injury update at practice on Wednesday:

"I'm not a math guy, so I'm not good with percentages," Spoelstra said. "[Herro] will not play tomorrow. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves right now. He's still just starting this process, we do have a few days here just to continue his work. I can't even make any kind of proclamation until he takes these next important steps, and that's with contact and doing things more on the court live. We'll just see. We're all encouraged by his progress that he's made, but we want to continue to be responsible and make the best decisions. He's not there yet."

It is an interesting situation for the Heat, because while Herro is one of their leading scorers, bringing a player back from injury in this setting is incredibly difficult. If Herro were to return at some point during the Finals, he would likely not have his usual load of minutes, as that would be a lot to ask of somebody who has only played one game this postseason.

For now, the Heat are taking a smart approach to Herro's return, and Spoelstra admitted he is not ready yet.
