Lakers Star Puts Nuggets on Notice

In this story:
Speaking at media day on Monday, Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis admitted last season’s Western Conference Finals loss to the Denver Nuggets - and the trash talk that followed, is motivation for the Lakers this season.
“It’s very motivational,” Davis said. “I mean obviously [Kentavious Caldwell-Pope] is my guy, so you kind of congratulate him, like, ‘You got this one.’ But it was just a lot of like, the talking and, ‘The Lakers dad.' There was just so much of that going on, it was like alight we get it, y’all won. But me and [LeBron James] had some conversations like, ‘We can’t wait.’”
Motivated by that series sweep, the Lakers have also been motivated by some of what followed that series as well. This is standard of any team that loses a series and then has to face the trash talk, but it makes sense why the Lakers would feel a certain way about some of the things that were said.
The Nuggets again look like the best team in the Western Conference, but the Lakers made some solid moves that they hope can close that gap. While that gap was pretty significant last season, as was evident by the series sweep, perhaps this added motivation will be a good thing for the Lakers the next time they line up with Denver.
