In this story:

While Nikola Jokic now has this perception that he does not care much about basketball, it's clear the Denver Nuggets star has a deep relationship with the game. Jokic's comments during his historic postseason run often suggested basketball was more of a job than anything else, even joking that he wanted to go home instead of to the championship parade, but the reigning Finals MVP loves the game.

While there may have been some truth to these comments from Jokic, it's reasonable to assume he was being playful a lot of the time, because he truly does love the game of basketball. During a recent interview, Jokic got honest about his relationship with basketball, saying the game means everything to him.

This clip has been going viral, because many Nuggets fans are rightfully using it to push back against the narrative that Jokic doesn't care about basketball. While Jokic himself has contributed to that narrative with some of his comments, it seems many people have taken them too literally, which has created this perception that the reigning Finals MVP does not care about basketball.

The truth is that Jokic does care about basketball, an works incredibly hard to be the player he has become. A two-time league MVP and now an NBA champion and Finals MVP, Jokic did not get here without putting in the work it takes to be great.
