Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. had a lot of injury concerns coming out of college, which is why he fell so far in the NBA Draft. Once considered a top pick, Porter fell further than many anticipated, which allowed the Nuggets to select him 14th overall in 2018.

The LA Clippers had the 12th and 13 picks in that draft, and passed on Porter with both selections. When asked recently if he thought he was going to the Clippers, Porter Jr. revealed that their doctor wrote a memo saying he may never play again.

"I knew I wasn't going to the Clippers, because it was their doctor who actually wrote the report that I may never play again. He was the main one who evaluated me... He sent that whole memo out to the league. I knew they weren't taking me."

It was the very next team on the clock who selected Porter, and it worked out great for them. The Nuggets won the 2023 NBA Championship, and the play of Porter was a big reason why. While Porter struggled at times in the playoffs, he also had some big moments, and was a consistent starter throughout the entire regular season, which helped the Nuggets secure the top seed in the Western Conference.

In hindsight, the Clippers certainly made a mistake passing on Porter for Jerome Robinson, especially considering they had consecutive picks.
