Rising Houston Rockets star Alperen Sengun often draws Nikola Jokic comparisons because of his post-game and ability to facilitate out of the center position. In a recent interview with EuroHoops, Sengun spoke about his goal to become an NBA champion the way Jokic just did with the Denver Nuggets.

"A championship has been my dream since I went to the NBA," Sengun told EuroHoops. "I think that’s everyone’s dream, as well as Nikola Jokic’s and it took him eight years to be able to win a championship. Now, we have a good dream in the Rockets and I hope we’ll do our best next season and enter the playoffs."

While the Rockets are still very far from championship contention, they did make some moves this summer that could bring them closer to a playoff spot. Signing Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks to multi-year deals, the Rockets seem to be attempting a pivot from their rebuilding era.

As previously mentioned, the signings of Brooks and VanVleet do not put the Rockets anywhere near title contention, and likely won't even be enough to make them a playoff team, but it is always good to see teams trying to get better after several seasons in the lottery.

With a rising star like Sengun, the Rockets feel they can begin pivoting towards a more competitive approach.
