Tyrese Haliburton to host one event as a part of the NBA 2K24 Championship Series

Haliburton enjoys video games

NBA 2K24, the popular basketball video game that is released every year, is out. It's one of the most popular video games on the planet.

This year, 2K is partnering with One Up and several NBA players to put on a tournament with over $1 million in prizes. Esports Illustrated has all the details here. There will be 20 qualifying events to reach the tournament, and a bracket of 16 participants will be created from there.

It's called the NBA 2K24 Championship Series, and the final four players will battle each other at an in-person 2K tournament in Miami next February. The top-eight finishers in the bracket all receive prize money.

Outside of the scope of the tournament, multiple NBA players will host exhibitions in the game with cash prizes involved.

20 NBA players will host the pre-qualifying tournaments, with the first one tipping off this Saturday (9/23) while being hosted by Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton will host the last event prior to the 16-team playoff bracket, which will take place on January 20, 2024. That is a Saturday and falls in between games the Pacers have in Portland (1/19) and Phoenix (1/21).

Haliburton is a fan of video games and occasionally streams himself playing them on Twitch. He enjoys the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series, among other games.

The All-Star guard averaged 20.7 points and 10.4 assists per game for the blue and gold last season. His in-game rating in NBA 2K24 upon launch was 88. The rating for the rest of the Pacers can be found here.
