The Toronto Raptors are thrilled to have All-Star forward Scottie Barnes available when the team hosts the Sacramento Kings at Scotiabank Arena.

Barnes was labeled as a "game-time decision" with a shoulder injury, but Sportsnet reporter Michael Grange is reporting that he is available.

Barnes in For Kings-Raptors

Getting Barnes in is important because the team will be without fellow All-Star Brandon Ingram (heel), Immanuel Quickley (plantar fasciitis) and Jamison Battle (illness). The Raptors are also playing on the second night of a back-to-back, so legs will be tired for the game against the Kings.

The Kings are coming into the game well-rested with two full nights off after losing to the Brooklyn Nets over the weekend. The Kings have lost four straight games going into the matchup, so they will be hungry to end their losing streak against the Raptors.

Even though the Raptors are shorthanded against the Kings, they are overwhelming favourites to come out on top. The Kings have just 19 wins on the season, making them the worst team in the Western Conference.

Getting Barnes on the floor is very important for the Raptors because this is a game they are expected to win and need to keep pace in the Eastern Conference standings. The Raptors are currently in sixth place in the East, 0.5 game behind the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 5 seed.

The Raptors are in need of a win to give themselves the best chance possible of avoiding the play-in tournament, which would put them on the brink of elimination if they were to go winless before the first round of the postseason.

Barnes will have to play without Ingram against the Kings, which could present some challenges if he stays injured.

"His pairing with Ingram, regardless of the specifics, has shown a better version of Barnes: one who impacts defence in every possible way, helps the Raptors push the pace and seeks out shots that make sense for him," The Athletic insider Eric Koreen wrote.

"It hasn’t been a huge leap or anything, but Barnes is at a career-best 53.0 effective field-goal percentage. That’s certainly not because he’s improved from 3. Rather, he’s cut out some of the tough shots he relied on when he was the top option offensively."

Tip off between the Kings and Raptors is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET inside the Scotiabank Arena. Fans can watch the game on TSN Sports on NBA League Pass.
