NBA Trade Rumors: Warriors SG Jordan Poole Dealt to Rockets?

The Golden State Warriors could look to trade Jordan Poole. Would the Houston Rockets be interested?

The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors have been long-time rivals, but perhaps they could be accomplices in one of the offseason's biggest trades.

The Athletic proposed a trade where the Warriors would send Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga to the Rockets for Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, K.J. Martin, the No. 4 pick in 2023, and Houston’s first-round picks in 2025 and 2027.

"Poole’s stock is down some after an underwhelming postseason run but all things considered, he’s had a tough season and might benefit from a change of scenery," The Athletic writes. "At his best, he’s one of the game’s brightest young guards with in-the-gym range, a sweet handle, underrated playmaking and a knack for scoring. Kuminga seems to have fallen victim to Golden State’s win-now mode and hasn’t been able to develop at the rate they’ve expected, but he’s also a talented, physical forward that can guard multiple positions and his potential should peak anyone’s interest."

Poole and Kuminga provide upside, but so does the Rockets' haul in the trade. Considering the fact that Poole and Kuminga both underperformed in the playoffs this year for Golden State, Houston's desire to do this deal wanes a bit.

Working out a trade with the Warriors can be tricky, but the Rockets should only do it if they are for sure getting the better end of the deal. In this proposed deal, the Rockets aren't doing that whatsoever.
