Nets vs. Rockets Preview: Houston Aims For Season-High Three-Game Win Streak

In this story:
HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets (15-49) will try to extend their winning streak to three Tuesday night in a game against the Brooklyn Nets (36-28) inside the Toyota Center.
The Rockets are coming off their largest victory of the season in a 142-110 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Houston had a complete game on both ends of the court.
They ended the night shooting 61.2 percent from the field, 54.2 percent from behind the arc, to go along with 29 assists. On the defensive end, the Rockets held the Spurs to 46.2 percent shooting, 32.4 percent from deep.
"We have an unselfish group," coach Stephen Silas said. "We have a group that wants to do the right things. But we are just young, and sometimes that gets in the way. When the ball is moving, everyone is getting a piece."
Health and availability played a major role in the Rockets' dominance over the Spurs Sunday night. Silas said the Rockets' production of having everyone available indicated how good the team could be despite their record.
"It's easy to teach off of stuff like this when they see the positives as the results of doing things the right way," Silas said. "When they see when we pass ahead, when we get fast break points and intentional about what we are doing on defense, that leads to us doing it more."

Can Jalen Green show more consistency:
Jalen Green had an efficient scoring performance in Houston's last game. He registered 31 points on 11-for-19 shooting, 4-for-8 from behind the arc in the win over the Spurs.
Green has shown the potential to become one of the top scorers in the league. But the second-year two-guard must find consistency within his play. In the previous two games following a 30-plus point performance, Green has averaged 13.3 points on 27.0 percent shooting from the field.
Limiting Mikal Bridges:
Silas was fond of the Rockets' defense during their two-game mini-series sweep of the Spurs. He was proud of the effort they gave. But most importantly, it appeared Houston finally understood the concepts of switching.
The Nets will be a tougher match-up for Houston's defense due to the play of Mikal Bridges. Since Brooklyn acquired the two-way player in the Kevin Durant trade with the Phoenix Suns, Bridges has averaged 26.1 points on .536/.500/.911 shooting splits.
Bridges lifted the Nets to a 116-105 victory over the Miami Heat in his third game with the team. He recorded a career-best 45 points (17-24 FG, 4-6 3FG, 7-of-7 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks.
Can the Rockets reach their longest winning streak of the season?
Winning streaks have been hard to come by this season for Houston. The Rockets will win their third consecutive game by defeating the Nets, setting a season-high three-game winning streak.
The 2021-22 season was the final time Houston held a win streak of three or more games. The Rockets won seven consecutive games from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8.
