Ranking Phoenix Suns Jerseys for the 2022-23 Season

Analysis on the Phoenix Suns confirmed and rumored jerseys for the upcoming NBA season.

The Phoenix Suns have always had unique style when it comes to their uniforms. Since their inception in 1968, the flashy combination of purple and orange has become an iconic colorway for the city of Phoenix and a staple in the NBA.

The following list ranks some classic, modern Suns looks as well as some sneak peaks at what is to be expected on the wardrobe side of things in the upcoming 2022-23 season:

Ranking 2022-23 Phoenix Suns Jerseys

5. (Rumored) City Edition (Alternate Uniform)

The concept design seen above from @SunsUniTracker Twitter account highlights the Suns potential design for their City Edition uniform. The City Edition uniforms were created in 2018 by Nike as a way for teams to express a more regional connected jersey based on local design.

According to @unimockups Twitter account, the originator of the design, the turquoise base and pattern on the side panels is a homage to the Native American tribes in the Salt River Valley. The Suns primary logo is centered with the numbering gradient of red white and blue on the front.

4. Icon Edition (Road Uniform)

In the 2017-18 NBA season Nike became the official outfitter for the league. "Road" uniforms have since been rebranded to "Icon Edition".

The Phoenix Suns Icon Edition uniforms feature a primary purple jersey and matching purple shorts. The "Phoenix" across the chest features a grey body bolded by orange,  giving it a distinguishable look. The numbers (front and back) are primary orange outlined in grey, giving it highlight against the purple. A solid look overall for the Suns who fared well last season playing in purple.

3. Association Edition (Home Uniform)

The Suns Association Edition uniforms features all white jerseys and shorts. The "traditional home uniform" of the NBA, the Suns sport the all white look along with a majority of the league. "Suns" is inscribed across the chest with a touch of burnt orange in the font that makes the "Suns" pop and gives it a beveled look.

The purple numbers outlined in orange are bold and makes them easy to read for fans. Two noticeable streaks of orange and purple on the side panel of the jersey gives it excellent detail and mocks a ray of sun, another nice detail in the uniform.

2. Hardwood Classic Edition Uniform (Throwback Uniform)

The Phoenix Suns announced they will be donning their "Sunburst" uniforms in certain games in the 2022-23 season to celebrate 30 years of Phoenix basketball. This era of uniform is from the 90's and will be worn during special 90's themed nights at Footprint Arena.

The jersey features a classic 90's look with blocked letters and a lighter shade of purple. The classic Suns logo scrawled across the chest brings the uniform together and gives the uniform a vintage "Barkley era" look.

1. (Rumored) Statement Edition (Alternate Uniform)

The Statement Edition uniforms from the Suns have leaked on Twitter thanks to the account @CGBBURNER. While not officially released, the detailed picture somewhat confirms the speculation by Suns fans online. The jersey, featuring the "PHX" abbreviation across the chest, adds a black uniform once again for the Suns.

The beloved "The Valley" jerseys will be replaced with this potential design. The gradient change in the "PHX" word marking implements purple, red, orange and yellow adds a fantastic flair. What might strike fans aesthetic appeal the most however, is the gradient block pattern on the neck and arm lines. The jersey gives the Suns a classy look and a clean alternative.
