Dario Saric Speaks on Being Traded From Suns to Thunder

The Phoenix Suns tarde with the Oklahoma City Thunder marks a new opportunity for Dario Saric

The Phoenix Suns made a plethora of big moves during the trade deadline. One that went under the radar was a trade that moved Dario Saric to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Darius Bazley.

While Saric was surprised by the trade, he also knows that the NBA is a business.

“You are always surprised,” Saric said via Joe Mussatto. “Kind of like you expect it but you also don’t expect it. It's kind of like how things go.”

Saric played three seasons for the Suns, this year being his least productive season averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists. With the Thunder, Saric will certainly have more of an opportunity to thrive with a younger team in more of a rebuilding stage.

“At the end of the day I’m happy to be here,” Saric said. “I’m happy to be a part of this organization, part of this group of young talented guys. They have a lot of years in front of them to play basketball so to be there and play with them is really amazing for me and I’m happy to be here.”

This season in Phoenix, Saric played 14.4 minutes a game. That number should go up now that Saric will be playing on a Thunder team that does not have the talent from top to bottom like the Suns possess.

As far as Saric’s role in Oklahoma City, that is not yet determined but he is prepared for anything that coach Mark Daigneault tasks him with.

He's also now the oldest player on the roster at 28-years-old.

“I think I will go with the flow,” Saric said. “We’re gonna figure out everything, how the games go. I’m here open-minded, and coach says he’s open-minded.”

Saric will be missed in the Valley but now looks to embark on a new chapter in his NBA career in Oklahoma City.
