Preview: Suns Host Bulls to Finish Back-to-Back

In this story:
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns (24-18) are set to face off with the Chicago Bulls (21-23) on the final night of a back-to-back before Phoenix goes on the road for the next two weeks.
The Suns are looking to extend a winning streak they started on Jan. 11th against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Bulls - meanwhile - are looking to continue to tread water as they are firmly locked into a play-in spot at this juncture.
Patrick Williams and Andre Drummond are both probable for tonight's game- while Zach LaVine is once again out. Full injury report can be read here.
Three things to watch for in tonight's game:
Bulls' Recent Performance
The Bulls have improved considerably following a rough 9-16 start to the season, including going 6-4 in their last 10 and 3-2 in their last five.
Much of the team's newfound success has been without star guard Zach LaVine, who has struggled with various injuries throughout the past month-plus.
While Chicago doesn't have a singular dominant player or scorer, they certainly have a number of dangerous players that can make life uncomfortable on the opponent - such as Alex Caruso.
The Bulls are yet another team that has too much strong NBA talent to take lightly despite their painfully average statistical profile.
Time to Buy Eric Gordon Stock
The Suns' sharpshooter has spent virtually all of January slumping, averaging 8.8 PPG while posting shooting splits of 33.3/25.5/73.3 in eight games.
The cold stretch is concerning as the sample is starting to get bigger and the volume for Gordon has been quite consistent all month long, but it's not a wise bet to believe this stretch will continue for much longer.
Gordon has been known to be an up-and-down shooter- and this stretch is certainly one that could back it up.
The upside of having Gordon - even in cold shooting stretches - is that he's a combo guard that can take on ball-handling duties, as well as his willingness as a defender and ability to be a connector rather than a ball-stopper on most occasions.
Gordon is still an X-factor on this squad, and Suns fans should remain confident in him moving forward.
He is questionable tonight with wrist soreness.
Player to Watch: Coby White
White has emerged as Chicago's franchise cornerstone in his fifth season in the league.
Suns fans may be familiar with White's name - he was widely believed to be a potential target for general manager James Jones in the 2019 NBA Draft in which the Suns picked No. 6.
The Suns opted to acquire Cam Johnson instead- and White went seventh to Chicago.
The talented combo guard had an inconsistent first four seasons to his career, which bottomed out in the 22-23 season when he started only two games and averaged sub-double figures for the first time.
The North Carolina product has rebounded nicely this season - and then some.
He has likely become Chicago's second-best player over this stretch and the main player currently on the roster that the franchise can feel confident in moving forward.
White is boasting averages of 18.6/4.5/4.9 on 45.5/39.7/81.6 splits.
The improvement that has made White more consistent this season is the ability to score at all three levels compared to previous years along with his improvement as a playmaker.
White is the player that should be at the forefront of the Suns' defensive game plan.
Suns-Bulls is set to tip shortly after 7:00 PM Arizona time.
