NBA Mock Draft: Thunder Opt for Size and Versatility

Oklahoma City could reinforce it’s young talent once again this summer.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are having a fantastic start to the season, sitting second in the Western Conference with a record of 13-6. With that in mind, they also have a significant amount of future draft capital, including several selections in the 2024 NBA Draft this summer.

Draft Digest recently released a mock draft for the 2024 class now that there has been several weeks of college play, which gives insight into where some of the top players in the upcoming rookie class could land. This projection has the Thunder selecting three extremely versatile prospects that could be key pieces in the future.

Ryan Dunn, Virginia

With the first pick of the night for the Thunder, this mock has them landing Ryan Dunn. The Virginia forward is the ultimate 3-and-D forward that plays with high energy. He is the perfect jumbo wing for the modern NBA and would have the chance to play immediate minutes in OKC next year.

From there, Izan Almansa was projected to be the second selection of the night for Oklahoma City. The Ignite prospect is able to play small ball center or power forward very effectively. The Spanish big is the type of player that would fit perfectly next to Chet Holmgren in the frontcourt longterm with his connective passing ability and willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Finally, in the second round of the draft, this mock draft has the Thunder landing Trentyn Flowers, who currently plays in the NBL. He’s a jumbo guard that plays for Josh Giddey’s former team and actually has a very similar style of play to the current Thunder guard. With great positional size and playmaking upside, he may be a project but Flowers would be a great pick in round two.
